Is the bilby Australia's answer to the Easter Bunny?

The bilby is an endangered marsupial, threatened by rabbits, feral cats and foxes. The Save the Bilby Fund has reintroduced a breeding population into a national park near Charleville, and promotes the bilby as an Australian alternative to the traditional 'Easter Bunny'.
