I grew up in Fulton. My grandfather owned the feed and fuel business across the street to the south. There was a small coal yard to the north of this depot and a ready-mix aggregate yard north of that

I grew up in Morrison and my dad grew up in Fulton. I have many pictures of this depot and rode my bike past it many times as a kid visiting my grandparents and Fulton cousins.

I was a student telegraph operator and station agent at the Milwaukee Road Depot at Fulton, Illinois during the summer of 1952. W. J. Sullivan was the station agent and my instructor. The big project that summer was widening U. S. Route 30 between Fulton and Morrison. The gravel came to our depot from Forreston, IL. During subsequent summer vacations I worked at Albany, IL, Eldridge IA, Davis Junction, IL, Kansasville, WI and Union Grove, WI. Later I worked on the Illinois Cental Railroad 1958-60 while in medical school.
