Endorse It 2007 was one of the few warm & sunny weekends in an otherwise miserable summer so I guess it was to be expected that we would get our come-uppance this year with persistent rain on the Saturday. But the site held up remarkably well & things never got as gloopy as one might have expected. We were able to drive off without any difficulty on the Monday morning although plenty of tractors & 4WD vehicles were around to assist the unfortunate few who did get stuck.
The set up was very much as we remembered it from last year with the Johhny Cash, Desmond Dekker & Wildcat Stages and the Wig On Casino all positioned as before. The Wrekon Pit was a new outdoor venue decorated with mechanical monkeys and stage managed by Iccy who was celebrating his 40th birthday. But the rain unfortunately meant that we were only able to enjoy a couple of acts here on the Sunday.
The catering provisions were much better this year and special mention has to go out to the traditional Welsh food stall and their magnificent faggots. There was also some excellent ale in the form of Ringwood’s Best & Forty-niner at the bars. Toilets in the arena were plentiful & generally as clean as could be expected in the conditions although for the 3rd week running provisions in the campervan field were woefully inadequate. Why exactly do we pay a premium when our facilities are so second rate? The campervan and car park fields were also a much longer walk to the arena entrance due to the field that was used for these last year not having been harvested in time. Security was a lot more obvious this year as well with some people having their bags searched on entering the arena but there was never any sign of unnecessary unpleasantness.
Once again there was an enormous crew in attendance from the Urban 75 message boards and despite the muddy & wet conditions many people still took part in the “ladies day” dressing up on “Psychobilly Sunday”. So despite the weather and a few minor niggles Endorse It proved once again to be memorable weekend and I certainly have every intention of returning for many years to come.
