The Biking Photographer!

Recently, due to the loss of my car, I have had to resort to two modes of transportation, a 20-year-old bike that I had to have repaired, and for far-flung objectives public transportation, for which I also use a bike.

A big problem I had with this was, of course, the impact it would have on my photography! I could no longer just toss all my gear into my car and go wherever I wanted!

So, I had to consider my options. I did have a rather bulky backpack that I took on hikes and various walkabouts (street photography and such) but since I was new to bicycling I wasn't sure what I could manage. So, I picked up a smaller lightweight backpack and began packing my Canon 5D "Classic" camera with one lens attached: the Canon EF 24-105 f4 IS, which is a great lightweight "walkabout" lens. I began setting out for "test" rides and for various errands and whatnot.

And, I keep on going! I am actually motivated to use my bike not just for transportation but for my photography in a meaningful way!

Guess what? I'm happy, so here I'm putting the collection of my Biking Photographer photos! And it will keep growing! And, because some of the photogs in the Canon POTN forum I'm active in are bicyclists and have gotten interested in this subject, we are starting a photo sharing thread there dedicated to biking photography!
