I recently had to face the fact that I could no longer afford to stay in the "spendy" apartment that has been home to me for the past six 1/2 years, paying over $1,000 per month for a place where I could stay as well as several family members who have needed help over the years.

To make a long story short, a friend of mine (Jim) offered to rent me a spare room for a reasonable price. Jim is a VietNam War vet, was called a hero by his platoon for actions in an intense firefight, and sustained grenade shrapnel wounds in the fight. He is disabled and has lived on his own with the assistance of the Veterans Administration health services.

So, as of November 1st 2012, I had gotten rid of a ton of belongings, moved some stuff into a family member's garage, and moved stuff to Jim's place, and I had a new home!

One of the things that was very noticeable: In Jim's neighborhood there are a variety of animals that "hang out", including birds, squirrels and raccons. Jim enjoys the animal "life", and so he has set up various feeders to attract the critters, birds and squirrels during the day, and then raccons at night, along with the neighborhood cats that like to "play predator".

And so, one of my early "projects" has been to get my camera (Canon 5D "Classic") set up with my birding/wildlife lens, and begin shooting photos of the activity!

Well, as of this writing it's in the "beginning stages", I'm trying different things out, although as we approach winter, the lighting is often not so good. But, at least I'm getting started, on something fun and meaningful for a photography "enthusiast"!

So, this page will be the "home page" for collections/shoots of these critters, click on a thumbnail and a page with photos will open up for your viewing enjoyment!
