Savannakhet; capital of Savannakhet Province; is located alongside the Mekong River.
It is the second largest city of Laos.
There is a regular bus service between Mukdahan, THAILAND and Savannakhet, Laos.
Across the Mekong river by the Second Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge.
You can take 1 day trip from Thailand for this nice & peaceful city.
From Savannakhet, there is regular bus to Hue, Vietnam also.
