Welcome to the club. It makes good pictures. It draws in a softer way, more close to film photo style, then a D70. The D70 shots are sharper, those of a D200 are more soft and less looking as if all was cut on edges with a cutter. I found the difference between the more soft and more sharp in the personal setting to be somewhat useless since I diid not notice any visible difference between the different results.
You will soon find out that the Autofocus is a real treasure. The thight and wide options are quite usefull and the power of this camera is unequaled.
Some say that the D2X is faster, but that wrong. D2X is just faster at 6 mpix half frame shooting. At full size chip shooting the D200 is faster. I made the test since I have both here. With a microdrive for sure, it's like givin it a wheelchair. I use A-Data 150x 4 GB sd cards with a Minolta CF to Sd adapter.
Notice that this camera is the best I ever had for night shots with the Fuji S series.
You will enjoy this camera.
