This is a scan of DC's "Famous 1st Edition Limited Collectors' Golden Mint Series" published in 1974. It's about the size of an old Life magazine.

"The 1938 copy of Action Comics #1, in which Superman debuted, sold Wednesday, smashing a $1.5 million record set for a slightly less well-preserved copy of the first edition auctioned last year."

Update from Yahoo News (12/30/11): "A pristine first edition of the inaugural Superman comic book, originally costing just 10 cents, has sold at auction for a record-breaking $2.16 million."

Update 8/24/14 – One of the finest copies available (CGC 9.0 - Perfect White Pages) just sold for $3,207,852.00 on ebay.
