It is a great spectactle to watch thousands of cranes to come flying into Kirr Island for the night.
During the night, the cranes sleep in the shallow waters of the island.
The surrounding water protects them against predators.
In the morning, they fly to their feeding sites and just before sundown, they return to the sleeping site.
The Island's saltmarsh meadows and the intact tideway system make Kirr island a unique refuge for coastal birds.
