This image appeals on so many levels. One is simply the color of every day life in that beautiful country. It also shows how children were engaged in helping with the family's support. From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I am taken with how the gothic arch shape is repeated in the basket handles, the bundles of sugar cane sticks and the party hats. Wonderful when themes like this emerge out of nowhere.
