This statue of Aw Boon Haw at the entrance to Tiger Balm Gardens stands overlooking some abject poverty. Aw Boon Haw, at the cost of more than HK $16,000,000 built the Gardens in the 1930's. They're gone now, as I'm sure the slums are as well.

this place is spooky - it's one of the bits that i dont regret the bulldozer shredding into. did you know that there was a tomb here with thousands of human bones on semi-display? the tiger balm lotion, however, is another story!
