We lived in H11 Roydon Court 1966 to 1970 and again in H1 1980 to 1982. A great place to live with small children and then with teenagers Peter and Joyce May.

We lived in Royden Court, 4 block building top right in the picture from from 1966 onwards most curiously in the same apartment previous occupied by the author James Clavell. Paradise when you're 9 years old.

Unless i'm much mistaken this shows our old flat in the old Bernside Estates. (We left in 1965). The group of 3 storey buildings in the centre were grouped around a semicircular bit of communal land, and the same style building to the left in the picture was on the left side of the entrance road. Our flat was the middle left on the nearest building in the right hand group. The entrance way to the new higher density Bernside seems to be in the same spot as the old one, and thanks to Street View I can walk down to the beach just like I used to. Although back then you could actually see the beach from South Bay Pass. But looking at it now, 45 years later, I can smell it! I was allowed to wander at will and frequently in the evening I'd be the only person on the beach. Sigh.
