Nha Be Anchorage

Vietnam

... all incoming cargo ships were held at Nha Be , about 20 miles outside of Saigon, until pier space could be arranged. In the interim, these ships were often attacked by Viet Cong divers. In the background of this photo, you can see one ship that's partially submerged after hitting a mine that had been placed on its anchor chain. The Military Police patrol boats are anchored just on the other side of the barge in the foreground.

It also shows how many little and not so little tasks and events happen that are not really known about except for the people participating or near them.

One of the small but heroic things that were done during the war that didn't appear on the news.
