The juvenile's crossed eyes do appear to be focusing on the old man, somewhat sinister appearing with eyes shaded and what seems to be a scowl. In this juxtaposition many interpretations are possible. Mine is, the infant looks with some horror at his future and the man he is to become. In any event the image is penetrating and defies being passed over casually, the mark of a significant photograph. Congratulations!
