Brookdale - February 2010

Brookdale Manitoba

The former UGG and Manitoba Pool #128 in Brookdale. Both were closed in 1978 when the Canadian Pacific Varcoe Subdivision was closed and removed. Brookdale and Oberon's elevators are the only remaining ones along the line. The Former Pool was bought by a local farmer and resided in the 1980's.
The steel from the rail line was sold to the Gillette company and turned into razor blades.

As for the sign, Simplot Soil Builders is gone and Fraser's general store is now closed.

This is great, Matt, the shot and the info. Sad to see the demise of
these elevators that sometimes seem to take the heart out of some
of our small prairie towns. V.
