Hello. My name is Todd Kindred. I thought I would tell you a little bit about myself.
I was born in Kansas City, Kansas. I went to Bonner Springs High School and grew up in Edwardsville, Kansas.
I spent most of my time in Kansas City though. After struggling through High School and Junior College, having to work and being a student athlete, I found
my way into the University of Kansas Engineering School. There I majored in Architectural Engineering and Civil Engineering.
From there I worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer. Most of my life I have had a dream
to become an architect. I would still like to fulfill this dream. At the moment I am living in Berkeley, California,
which is in the San Francisco, California Bay Area. But not much longer! I have lived overseas in Santiago, Chile twice.
I first became interested in traveling overseas by viewing slides of European architecture in my Architectural History
classes in college. My dream was to fly to Europe once in my life, in particular Italy, to see the great architecture there.
After graduating from college I bought my first ticket to Europe (Milan, Italy).
On that trip I think I took at least 30 rolls of film thinking it would be a once in a life time experience! I was so moved by the trip I
flew to Paris a month later. And that was the beginning of my extensive journeys around the world.
After my first trips abroad I became very comfortable discovering new frontiers and going to places very foreign to my own. Now one of the biggest draws for me are the friendships I have established around the world. From the Americas to Asia. All with different experiences and cultural backgrounds.
Up to this point I have flown to Europe over 20 times, South America over 20, Asia about 6 times, and Australia twice.
I have traveled to 47 states in the U.S., to every bordering providence in Canada and Mexico. I remember the road trip from Kansas City to Topeka, Kansas was an exciting on to me when I was a child. And from Kansas to California while in college. Now, flying from San Francisco to Frankfurt is like taking a trip to the adjacent state. How times have changed.
My older brother Thomas introduced me to photography and was kind enough to let me borrow his Minolta film camera while I was a young teenager.
I hope my technique has improved since those early years, especially over the last couple.
My dream is to live permanently overseas. I hope to realize this dream within the year.
