This was my first visit to the Saint Augustine Alligator Farm. Although the many species and large number of alligators and crocodiles are a big tourist draw, the site also serves as a major natural rookery. The alligators protect the many bird species from their major predators, making for an attractive area for the birds to roost and nest. The shear number and proximity of egrets and herons was an amazing sight which offers wonderful photographic opportunities.
