Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival, Woodburn, Oregon

One of my favorite times of the year is in early spring when the tulips begin to bloom. The bright colors are such a welcome sight, especially here in the Pacific Northwest after six long months of grey skies and rain!

This year has been particularly cold and wet and so it was a very late tulip crop. The weather forecast called for a huge storm front to push through over the weekend bringing really cold temperatures and lots of rain...We decided to venture out anyway. We were lucky. We got a break from the rain for about a half an hour, but no break from the biting wind! On the way home, we even had some snow...

The stormy skies provided a pretty spectacular backdrop for all the color. I can't think of a better way to spend Easter morning....
