I just saw my first one (which I never previously knew of) on my deck in Ohio. It moved rapidly & I could not discern whether she was an ant or a bee, so I chose Google Image to investigate before photographing! Having read about the intense sting, I may leave her alone. I concur, you captured an amazing shot with excellent clarity!

I have never seen one of these before today. One was in my garage and I caught it. Does anyone collect them for study?

John, I put a leaf over the wasp, and she thought it was a hiding place and she stopped. I had about 2 seconds to get a picture after I lifted the leaf.

Incredible shot! These wasps move so fast, how did you manage the clarity? I just caught one yesterday in Mississippi and managed to avoid being stung. I know they hurt!
