Despite the low turn-out due to the rain it was still a successful day. We took in a total of $5,464. I'm not exactly sure but I think about twelve to eighteen hardy bikers actually rode the ride totally in the rain. A few people rode the ride in their cages. We also had some people register and just picked all of their cards at Stubbs.
The live auction went great thanks to auctioneer Bear Prince and the generosity of our participants. The highlight of the auction was when wounded warrior 1LT Miguel Rocha told us the history of one of the coins in the Challenge Coin Case and what it meant to him and that he didn't have one. JohnnyD then bid on the Challenge Coin Case until he won it with the high bid and then presented it to 1LT Rocha.
No motorcycle ride is complete without food. Stubbs generously provided the hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks. Butch served up some great chili for frito pie or to top off the hot dogs.
Many thanks are due to Stubbs Harley-Davidson for hosting the ride. Not only did they host the ride but they provided the food, a gift certificate to each of the THR participants, gift certificates and a goody bag for prizes and best of all, they gave each of our wounded warriors the shirt of their choice. Everyone of those warriors had their Stubbs H-D shirt on the next morning when we went to breakfast.
I would also like thank the Texas Honor Ride Board, Executive Committee and everybody who volunteered their time to help make the Texas Honor Ride Fun Run a success. I know many of you are disappointed with the low turnout because of the rain but everybody, including our wounded warriors, seemed to have a great time, and that's what really matters.
Three of the wounded warriors arrived early on Friday and stopped by the house for some fishing. They all had a great time and caught some great catfish.
