Thanks for the comparison shots. I'm trying to decide between the 80-400 VR and this one.

Have you used it yet with a teleconverter?

Thanks for do the comparison. Just got the 70-300 VR yesterday and did my own testing against my 80-400 VR. At 300mm, optically very close. The 80-400 is tad sharper, especially, within DOF range.
It would be nice if you could compare head-to-head with the 80-400 VR. I'd like to see if you got similar result or my copy is not so good. Read from many forum that the new lens is sharper than 80-400 at 300mm.

Thanks for putting these images up as I'm very interested in the lens, but Please, please, please post some full res images so we can see how sharp or not it is (especially in comparison to the 80-400 VR).
