26550 - The Parthenon

We explored the area and found a way to climb an adjacent hill in order to a high enough
elevation to get a good look at the Parthenon and shoot this photo.

Ita one of all mankind's greatest treasures.

Lovely light; it adds to the image to differentiate the emphasis on the colonades.

Great shot, beautiful image Tim. Each time I see the Parthenon, I am reminded of mankind's 2 great stupidities. One, The Parthenon was used as an ammunition storage place during WW II by the Germans, which of course blew-up and destroyed a good part of it. Secons, The French during Napoleon I, while in Egypt, used the Sphinx as a target practice. Yup, they're the ones who blew-up the Sphinx's nose. Now it takes years to rebuilt and repair those damages... if at all possible.
