The Ancient Town of Lijiang - World's Cultural Heritage

    History:
    Lijing, once the major crossroad on the ancient route for tea convoys, occupied an important place in the history of the communication with foreign countries.

    Geography (7,800 feet above the sea level):
    The Yulong (Jade Dragon) Snow Mountain, with 13 snow-capped peaks towering like jade columns, is the lowest-latitude,
    closest-to-equator mountains in the age-old snow mountain complex in Northern Hemisphere.

    Water:
    The clean water comes from the melting snow-capped mountain and spills out of the Black Dragon Pool located in the west of the town,
    running into the ancient town. The water is then divided into many brooks which flow through every street and alley in the town.
    The water makes up a town of vitality in which the clean streets and alleys are situated beside the streams.
    The ancient town is characterized by its stream, the weeping willow and the stone arch bridges.

    People:
    The Naxi ethnic group is world-famous for its Dongba Culture, ancient music, and White Sand Murals.
