Hoh Rain Forest, Olympic National Park, Washington

Hoh Rain Forest

I love going to the Washington coast every year right smack dab in the middle of February. I don't profess to understand this, but every time I do, I have fantastic weather! In 2010 it was sunny and 72 degrees!

This year was a bit different in that to get there we had to drive through a tremendous storm; ferry routes were shut down, the Hood Canal bridge was closed (thankfully AFTER we crossed it), downed trees... what a mess! The first night, the last of the storm passed through and the skies opened up to beautiful, albeit cold, sunshine!

Knowing that the sun would be drying up the moisture, we headed down to the Hoh Rain Forest in the Olympic National Park and much to my pleasure, I was able to find several backlit scenes with the moisture evaporating skyward. It was SO beautiful there!
