Sanctuary

Muscle Shoals, Alabama

Planning on shooting landscapes and waterscapes, I left my Canon gear at home. Of course, walking across Wilson Dam, doing my morning constitutional today, I heard squawking which was familiar. Below the dam, on the shoals (landscapes to come later), I noticed a few bumps among the rocks. I had my 75 mm Summilux, and took some landscape shots, and while processing, it became obvious this TVA-owned land is actually best described as "Mardi Gras for GBH's ". This is a small sample; there must have been hundreds.Cormorants, gulls, and a hungry osprey rounded out the viewing, when I wasn't being overflown and buzzed by purple martins, who were most interested in why I was up there walking, it seemed.
Next time, the Canon gear.

This photo is amazing Michael.
Wall to wall or should l say rock to rock birds.
Quite stunning and dream-like

Well, the Summilux did a wonderful job for you. I have learned that you have to make the best of what gear you take, because it never seems to be what you think would be optimum. That optimum piece is always at home.

Ah, the story of my life, Michael....However, I love the dark-blue color of the water contrasted with the rocks and birds. Beautiful!
