Blue Bomb

Corinth,MS

A somewhat unusual image, I thought. The Eastern Bluebirds I have watched at our house in Mississippi are often on lower tree branches, and on the ground after food. The males tend to drop kurt of the tree, and finally furl their wings in time to do a controlled landing, often amazingly close to the ground. Haven't seen this behavior in other birds. Maybe it is the Mississippi effect...
This guy did not, as you might expect, crash to the ground.

I've never seen anything like that. Almost comical looking. Made me smile.

most unusual behavior Michael and brilliant timing.
Maybe it evolved to get down quickly
before being grabbed by a predator.
Glad you still have your farm.
l thought that you must have sold it.

I've never seen that behavior in a bird. It is unexpected. Good for you to notice and photograph.

Good eye to catch this unusual behavior and be able to capture it good depth of field.
