Dear Cindy, Thank you SO much for telling me the fascinating story.
l knew that the bridge was from London but certainly
did not know any of the details.
Thank you again.
l'd like to know one last little detail Cindy..... the origin of the name Havasu.

Gorgeous view, Cindy. I love those warm tones contrasted with the dark blue water in the
foreground. Thanks for the background info too :)

Thank you for the kind comments Anita, Jose, Paolo, and Hal.
Hal, Lake Havasu was formed on the Colorado River between by damming the river at Parker dam. There was only a fishing camp at the location of Lake Havasu City until about 1960. McCullough (from the motor/chainsaw company) envisioned a city. He bought the bridge (that was sinking and was going to be replaced) from the city of London. It was taken apart and stones were numbered. It was shipped through the Panama Canal and dropped off in California. From there it was trucked out into the desert and rebuilt on dry land. A canal was built from the lake and back out to the lake, going under the bridge. The land that was cut off by the canal is now the "island" that one can get to by crossing over the bridge. The lamp posts visible in some of my photos of the bridge, were forged from melted-down canons from the Napolianic wars.

What a lovely tranquil and warm scene Cindy.
You must be the envy of most people shivering in
the rest of the country.
BTW. where does the water in Lake Havasu come from ?
A dam ?
