One of the beautiful things about family is the children. Doing what we do, the opportunities are endless. This was taken at a family get-together, at a time when the youngest members needed something to do while lunch was cooking. The result, I was pretty pleased with. Honestly, I find formal portraiture too constraining, and the lighting, too expensive and tedious. Portraiture, to me, should bring the character of the subject forward, and that doesn't happen, I believe, unless it is accomplished in a candid manner. Where children are concerned, sometimes a little distance helps.

Beautiful image and light. I love candids more than posed shots myself.

Nice work, Michael. I too love the candid informal available light portraits/images. But I also am in awe of formal portraits. In other words I like them all :) This is a real keeper!
