Salmon Glacier

The Salmon Glacier in my opinion is the most beautiful and amazing glacier any where. Although due to the low clouds covering the upper glacier we were not able on this trip to see the whole thing, I was able to get some tight shots with the long lens to show the enormous crevasses, cracks and patterns, and the lovely blue colors from the highly compressed ice. The greatest challenge was including something in the frame for context and scale. The best I could do was include the edge of the mountain lip just above the glacier. Trust me, those blocks of ice down there are the size of large buildings!

Good to see such a whote glacier - the ones I have seen are mostly covered in grey grit.
So some great patterns and colours here

There are a few things in life that I would dearly love to see with my own two eyes.
A Glacier being one of them, a volcano being another, mind you the northern lights is there also and a tornado, anyway less of the waffle.
A fantastic shot Jim, I'm enjoying your trip, keep these fantastic shots coming.

I wish I could get closer to see all the detail that you have captured. It is amazing that those blocks are as big as houses.

Yes, without your explanation, I would have never guessed the
size of those ice blocks! Is this on the Columbia Ice Field?

You are right... at least for me something to give
perspective on the size would be helpful.
