On a Day Like Today

Shiloh, Tennessee

One hundred forty nine years ago today, thousand of men died in this beautiful southwestern Tennessee woodland. The day looked something like today...on the Saturday before Palm Sunday.
May God bless their memory...

And to look at it today, it looks so peaceful.
Nice to see the spring colour starting to come back.
A lovely shot.

Very sobering. It is hard to believe that it is the scene of such horror.

A beauty here that all those men were deprived of!

Bob took the words right out of my mouth. I have just finished
watching episode 6 of the series. A very powerful and
appropriate image, Michael.

Ken Burns Civil War documentary is on PBS in our area. One of the recent episodes included Shiloh. Seeing that makes this image so much more powerful.
