That's a good question Lennart, but one to which I do not have a clear answer. Apparently, at least in North America, pictures of the brides shoes and dress have become a standard part of wedding photography. I was looking for something a little different than shoes on a chair, and wedding dress hanging from a closet door; a picture where the subject would contrast visually and conceptually from the background. This, and the picture of the dress which I will post in a few moments, were taken less than 5 minutes walk from their home.

Interesting image but how are you supposed to interpret it!

Thanks all. I used to shoot quite a few weddings in the 1980's but haven't done one in almost 20 years. After agreeing to photograph the wedding of the daughter of close friends I realized that wedding photography had changed quite a bit with the move to digital. It was a fun weekend but I had forgotten how much work wedding photography really is.

So out of place, but yet it looks so well. Great work.

What a creative shot, Steve. I love it.

Quite a departure, Mr. M, and one I like very much.
I like the darkened but colorful backdrop to accentuate the white shoes.
Very well- thought-out!
Great appeal.

This is most original.
The contrast with the rough surroundings is very marked.
Well done Steve.

This is a very cute way to display wedding details. The fancy, silky (expensive) shoes contrast with the rough post nicely.
