Doing Battle

This somewhat more intimate landscape is shot in an area where much fighting occurred. This is truly the type of scene in which a Civil War soldier would have found himself during the Battle of Shiloh. There will be several typical scenes to follow, as I try to show you the more personal side of the park, the areas where I tend to find the most peace, and spend my quiet time there.
The mound in back left is a burial mound used by the Chickasaw Indians in the 1600's...

Gorgeous! The contrast between what happened here and the natural beauty of the place... gives you pause.

So peaceful now, it's hard to believe what actually took place here. Lovely shot.

Very lovely ... and deadly country for an ambush Michael.
lt reminds me of the difficult terrain that the US forces had to fight through
in France after they landed in Normandy.

fascinating.

Its hard to imagine, given the beauty of this place. Wonderful
tones of green.
