North Freedom Rail Yard- Painted

Wisconsin

I'm getting a feel for the brushes. I need to get an art brush so that I can control the brush like a real paint brush. I do pretty well with my mouse, but I'm sure the art brush will give me more control.
I'm also finding that simple subjects work best to give a true painterly look.

CS5 is free for a 30 day demo if anyone wants to give painting a try.

I REALLY like this!

Yes, I love the effect Cindy, and as Hal said, very clean for a train yard...
Actually, I'd love to see this in its original form as well.... Great work...

This looks like real fun Cindy. And Pete is right.
The top photo looks so clean and tidy for a goods yard, that it does look like a toy setup.
The texture is just enough to make it appealing and it does look like an artwork.

Reminds me of the Thomas the Tank engine books, my Father was a model railway enthusiast and he would have loved this. Does make reality look model like. (Meant to be a compliment)

Thanks, Pat, Terry and Bob.

Bob, I've heard that Corel Painter is great. There is probably a learning curve, just like with CS5 painting, but it is a lot of fun and I hope the effort will be worthwhile in the end. I used to paint with oil and acrylic when I was young...but I don't want to get involved with real brushes/messy paint again.

Great inspiration... I have Corel Painter 11 and a tablet, but have not had time to get into it. Have to start to keep up with everyone else!

Looks like you are having a great time with this, Cindy.
Its fun to watch your progress.

Pat, I've had a Wacom for several years. It takes a while to get used to it. You have to keep at it. Right now, I have the older Intuos 3. You can find the 3 for about $99 now. The latest Intuos 4 is quite a bit more. I just ordered the Art Pen for my 3. I started out with a small size 2. My intuos 3 is the medium size. If you are going to get one, at least get the medium size. I'm always running to the edge, even on the medium. When this one goes, I will get a large.
If you get one, there are tutorials out there on the web to help you get started.
