This almost made my cry . My dad (Craig iris) graduated from here in the early 90's he moved here all the way from Bermuda UK and started his family here in Charlotte nc. I remember running around this campus as a little boy and getting lost in the long hallways. The camp meetings and other activities was life changing I can't believe the Church Of God let this place go. It hasn't been a problem with the noise all this years why change it. Unfortunately my dad passed in april 1999 if he was still alive it would break his heart

Checked this place out a couple times, late last year. It's definitely fun to explore. There are at least a couple rooms with books in them, as well as little pamphlets. Be very careful of the floors though. Especially, if you are a bit heavy. During my groups' second trip, our heavier member fell through the second floor, but was lucky (and fast) enough to stop himself from falling all the way through by grabbing onto a wooden palate that was laying on the floor, directly in front of him. Basically, his body from his arm pits down was hanging through the floor. And, let me tell you, it would have been quit a drop down. With that palate, though, he managed to pull himself back up.

It has been 22 years since I lived on this campus. Great memories of how God would pour out His Spirit in Class and in the Chapel Services. What I learned while in School there has helped me to be what I am today. To all of the Class of 1989 May God's Best be Yours!!!!

I relocated to Anderson, SC this summer. My oldest Josh, that some may remember was flying into Charlotte to spend Christmas with us. I thought it would be nice to show Josh and Matt (22 and 20) where Connie and I met, our first home, etc. I knew that the school had moved and then closed but I was not prepared for what I saw. Once again the old gives way for newer and better. I was even hoping to stop at the old convenience store. Who know maybe they even would have been packin'. Does anyone know what happened to the retired ministers that lived there? I'm sure they where relocated but I would like to know where and what conditions. Where many where so happy to move off campus at the 1st chance, We where excited to live in a gated community at such low costs. I hope this finds friendly ears hungry for a voice from old. As I remember, the campus was closed for two reasons. 1. The airport was too close and the property could not be an educational institution so close to so much noise. 2. The church decided to put their money into Lee instead. I remember a lot of hurt people that it was going to close. I don't know what it's being used for now if anything. For those that want to reconnect, I'm sure Facebook or Myspace, or some other blogging/network site has people from ECBC that are looking for old classmates.

These pictures disturb me very much. I have fond memories of Western NC campmeetings, youth camp, and summer bible school. It hurt my heart to see the destruction of the campus up-close. I have driven by the entrance a time or two but had no idea the property now looks like this. It's a sad shame.

If memory serves me correct, I spent the better part of 10 summers here. Whether it was Youth Camp (as a camper and counselor), Camp Meeting, State Bible and Music Institute or even sitting with your family outside the State Office on the Monday following Camp Meeting. For those PK's out there you know what that was for. This was truly a sacred place. For many of us it was the place of our "first date", first time away from home, milkshakes at the concession stand........Someday, even what is left standing now will be gone, as many of us will be also. But no one can ever, ever, take away my memories of this place.

I attended ECBC from 96-98. I have so many wonderful memories of the school and the people. The faculty, staff, and all the students became such close friends. My heart broke when I saw the pictures. I returned to see the college personally. The pictures really do not show the destruction.

I attended the Bible Music Institute(BMI) summer program 3 years in a row and graduated. I was one of the few that were fortunate enough to graduate before they stopped having that program. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at ECBC. Looking at these photos is really upsetting and almost unbearable. I remember walking down those halls, standing on the main staircase and just having a wonderful time in the Lord with all of the wonderful people that I met in those 3 years. God used this place to really bless my life and for that I am so thankful. I only wish there was a way to get in contact with some of the friends and faculty that I met during that time. God bless all of you.

I am a Graduate of East Coast Bible College; Class of 1996. Must say, these pictures are quite shocking. It was a sad thing that the Church of God, Cleveland, did not fight to keep this Bible College open. More graduates from this College went on to full time ministry than any other Church of God school, inlcuding their baby Lee University. To all my fellow Alumni (hello Nancy and Bill) May God's richest blessing continue to encompass you and your families.

This is my first time seeing these unpleasent pictures of ECBC. When looking at these photo's, I feel sad about the demolition. As I understand it, the property could be sold to the city of Charlotte, if the airport traffic noise level was to loud. Perhaps there were other reasons, like the temptation of getting the money and rebuildng a few miles away. As I understand it, the property was sold for much less, than what could be obtained from the rich city of Charlotte, and that add's insult to injury. Was it the will of God, or the will of men to sell? I was not on their leadership team to know for sure, but I do not like what I see. All I know for sure is, ECBC was the right place at the right time for me. This was the 2nd Bible college God led me to, and strongly confirmed it along the way. Earning the B.A. in Bible(with Greek),was the right degree and the right faculty. The church moves onward toward our Heavenly calling upward. Good and bad memories are all we have of the pass. Let us complete our mission, and finish well. The Lord will return soon for his glorious Church. Rev. Gary J. Not a graduate of ECBC, but if I am not mistaken, this was the home of the NC COG's youth camps, Bible school and campmeeting. I fondly recall many days of campmeeting here and spent three summers in Bible School attendance. In fact, I heard the famous words of Neil Armstrong while sitting on the stage at one of the large pianos, talking with friends. Thank God that the memories of those times doesn't have to suffer the decay of the years. It is/was just a place, but a holds a special spot within my heart.

I went to East Coast Bible befor going to Homes Bible College, In 1982, this breaks my heart, there were a lot of good people who over the years walk the Halls of East Coast,You would think that the Church of God, would have placed conditions upon the sale, for the sake of pass students and others who help make East Coast happen. May be it is some what like the condition of the church today, Rotten from the inside out.

I am an ECBC graduate. ECBC changed my life - I have many wonderful memories. Seeing these photos breaks my heart but it also gives me a greater desire to work for the LORD. Dr. Voorhis' dream and vision lives on through each of use. ECBC site may be decaying but the call and the ministry lives on and will continue to impact the world for Christ!!

This just breaks my heart, to see a shell of the wonderful place this once was. The hardest thing was to see the statments of faith marble plaque in shambles along with the other garbage. I ran my hands over that many times thinking of our forefathers on ministry and all they had endured. Thank you for posting them...please post more.
