This was an exclusive photo of a crashed float plane. I had to jump onto a boat that was on its way back to the other side of the lake to go home for the night. I asked them if they can take me near the wreckage for a picture, they said yes. As we approached I shot 4 shots this is the only one that came out clear. The other 3 were to foggy as it was 50 degrees that night with fog over the lake. It was the only picture that any of the local papers had.

Plane crash with two fatalities

December 18, 2003 at 4:50 p.m.
WHERE:
Lake Thonotosassa
WHY/HOW:
At approximately 4:50 p.m., the small plane passed over Lake Thonotosassa and began descending over the northeast side of the lake in order to make a landing on the water. At touchdown, the airplane nose dived into the water and flipped over, leaving the entire aircraft submerged with the exception of the pontoons and landing gear. Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, dive team members responded to the scene and recovered both bodies as well as the dog in the submerged plane.
December 19, 2003, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, dive team members will float the plane so as to bring it to shore at which time FAA and NTSB will investigate the cause of the crash.
