16R, The Romance of Flying, 25.Jun.2005

Hollywood Premiere of the movie One Six Right, The Romance of Flying
June 25, 2005 at the:

Hollywood Pacific Theater
6433 Hollywood Blvd
Hollywood, CA 90028

Here are a few impressions from the premiere. The event was photographed by professionals; we chose to be more inconspicuous by not using a flash, even if the pictures might not be of good quality.

The invitation was a "thank you" for our donation of images from Meigs Field Airport in Chicago before it was destroyed. The movie is the best documentary about flying which we've seen so far. Aerial photography was shot in high-definition and is absolutely stunning! Brian Terwilliger took 5 years to produce the movie, taking it from a simple documentary about Van Nuys Airport to a beautiful tribute of General Aviation. The Cessna Company was a major sponsor of the movie. Other companies and dozens of people contributed their time and effort. Barry Schiff spoke the Laudatio before the movie started.

Did you know that Van Nuys Airport used to be known as Los Angeles Metropolitan Airport and that it provided the airport scenes for the movie Casablanca?

See AOPA Magazine July 2005, Page 38 for more information about this event.
