The Overland runs between Adelaide and Melbourne and takes about 11 hours. You pass through large areas of grain growing country and when we travelled it was harvest time and the fields were all golden brown. However, it was a surprise to spot what was obviously an old volcano with a distinctive lava flow running down it's side. There are in fact, many volcanoes in Victoria with several in the Mount Gambier area. The coach side features the Kookaburra - a kind of Kingfisher and fairly common.
