This shady area by the village gate is a meeting area for the villagers. The water tap and washing area is on the left, out-of-picture, and horses and other animals are frequently tied up here. Our lodge, which is on the right, was home to the village telephone. It was constantly in use! We stayed in our tent here as the ground was reasonably dry.
