Boojum Tree

Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden - Claremont, CA view map

The boojum or (Fouquieria columnaris) is an odd-looking tree in the family Fouquieriaceae.
It is endemic to the Baja California Peninsula, with a small population in the Sierra Bacha of Sonora.
The plant's name is said to come from Lewis Carroll's poem "The Hunting of the Snark"
Many people liken it to an upside down carrot.
