Hey thanks Bill for the guide. One quick question. I seem to remember that the spent shell casing would drop out of the stock after firing, is this supposed to be the case? Thanks!
Thank you so much for posting this manual! I've been shooting my model 55 since I inherited it in 1982 when I was 12 years old. I've owned many, many guns since then, but I think my little 55 is still the most accurate one of the bunch. It's what I used to pass my hunter safety test, and it's taken down many a rabbit and squirrel. So many memories. Now I'm getting ready to hand it down to my youngest son, and so grateful to have the manual to include with it.

Michael, The overall length of the Model 55 is 41 inches.
What are the dimensions for the WINCHESTER MDL. 55 22 RF overall length making a shipping box
Dennis, I have no idea where you can find parts for this gun. A good gunsmith should be able to find a replacement.
I HAVE THIS GUN, MY FIRST GUN GIVEN TO ME 51 YEARS AGO AND LOVE IT. I NEED THE MAIN SPRING. ANY IDEAS?
Steve, You are welcome. I purchased mine sometime in the early 1990s from a collector. it is 95% or better. I love shooting it.
Thanks Bill. I have one of these fine pieces that I got in 1958 for my 8th birthday.
It's all original and still in about 95% condition. Good to have a copy of the manual.
Congratulations on finding a Loading Gate Cover. Parts are very hard to find for this model. Hope you enjoy shooting yours as much as I enjoy mine.
Just purchased a new Loading cover for my Model 55 (my first rifle as a kid).
go to www.outbackgunparts.com $12.00 -- thanks for posting the manual. Mine's been long gone.
JV, You welcome! Thank you for looking and commenting. Regards :o)
Thank you very much for posting this.
Bob, You might be able to find one at a gun show. Parts are hard to find for this rifle. Good luck! Regards Bill :o)
Would you have a clue where I could get a loading chute? My gun is in excellant shape but the chute is broken. I'm going to try to make one out of copper or brass but this will not be original, if it works.
Thanks for posting the instruction manual, I just recently purchased this rifle, what a blast to shoot, i haven't shot in over 8yrs and put 5 out 17 rounds into a 100yd target ( not good at guessing wind deflection) at 25 and 50yds the gun is extremely accurate......not bad for a 53yr old gun......being a lefty the cartridge loading and ejection is great for for both lefty's' or righty's....after a few rounds you can reload pretty damned quick......my son loves it....perfect starting rifle and very safe.
From what I've found only about 48,000 were made, there is no info on the Winchester site, but it seems by 1959 these guns were no longer produced and are becoming very collectible......
Sorry Guy! All the info I have on the Model 55 .22 is posted here.
Great info!! My brother and I have used the model 55 .22 since about the time they were manufactured - 1957. Great and safe little rifle. Had my original modified for my son (now an adult) and bought another as a replacement for me.
Unfortunately I tore down the trigger mechanism and forgot how to put it back together. Do you have a narrative to go with the schematic you have posted?
Sorry, I do not have instructions for the Model 55 levar action.
Hello, would you happen to have instruction book for a model 55 l25-35 (lever action?) thanks d. lopez I can be reached at email@example.com Thanks again.
