I have had the *istD for about a year and absolutely love it for sports. I've mounted the Sigma 170-500MM and the 70-210MM sigma 2.8 to the *istD. Low light (i.e. Hockey, evening under lights and late afternoon) were the driving force for the 70-210 2.8 purchase. I do my post processing with Paint Shop Pro 9.0. I was in the same predicament as you are with regards to already having lenses for my PZ1-P.
