Young ospreys have red-orange eyes, the adults have yellow. All the while the young were on the ground the female called and they listened and always flattened to the ground. They were young enough not to cause any injuries to anyone. Ospreys nesting and breeding in the United States traditionally winter in the Caribbean, Central America and northern South America. A few remain along the Gulf Coast southern California and southern Florida.
