St. Mullins, County Carlow

St Mullins is located on the River Barrow in County Carlow. The main feature of this small village is the church of St Moling and St Moling's well. The saint gives his name to the village. The graveyard features a number of notable graves, including several from the 1798 rebellion. Further up the road is the Templenaboe ruin, once a graveyard for un-baptised children.

Hi Bill Gladney, It is indeed Mag O' Neill from The Green. I have just spent 3 months in St. Mullins. I brought 6 of my children with me. They loved it there, they can't believe I ever left to live in Australia. I met up with some of your clan, all well TG. Is that Maurice Ryan from The Quay?? Have we all left for far away lands?? Great photos of a wonderful place. My father-in-law, Mosey Murphy came from here, and my Husband's cousin, Mosey, now lives in the house, Terry and I have been lucky enough to visit from Australia.

Is that Mag O Neill from the Green ,if it is its great to hear from you 27 years an emegrant now and still feel the lure of St Mullins running in me .It brings back some great meamorys of growing up in such a wonderful place ,I sometimes tell my kids stories of St Mullins and all the kids playing on a summers evening around the moat and the well and swimming in the river they say it must have been the best playground on earth,Ithink there is a bit of truth in that .

mY fATHER jIM cOLLINS CAME FROM sT.mULLINS -AS A CHILD GROWING UP IN nEW yORK HE WAS VERY ACTIVE IN THE cARLOW ORGANIZATION ALONG WITH BILL gRENNAN -cOADYS-mARGARET gROARKE--ALL ARE DEad now -I Married in 1954 to Jim Boland-engineer and he as just out of the Air Force-we live in St.Louis,Missouri-had 6 kids-have 20 grandchildren -visited Ireland 3 times and plan to return once more to St.Mullins--I am a teacher and always make sure I let children know about New Yprk and what it was like to be of Irish decent -I keep the tradition up and am proud to say all have married well and have Irish in all -

Thank you for these wonderful photos of St. Mullins. My father's cousin, Moses Murphy, lives in Slievedurda not far from St. Mullins. We visited Moses and Mary Murphy in 2004 and saw the Murphy family farm. Moses is the family historian, and he and Mary took us to St. Mullins Church and St. Molings well.
