Pictures of a Greater Roadrunner, rare on the floor of the Santa Clara Valley, found near the Alviso Marina and observed by many local birders in the Fall of 2004. I took the second and third pictures while I was sitting quietly in a clump of fennel and the bird approached me, eventually coming within five feet.
I made a few quick grab shots of a RR in Livermore about the same time frame. I wonder if it might have been the same bird? I probably could've gotten some better shots, except some morons nearby started throwing rocks at it and chasing it. Just to see if they could out-run the bird. Makes me wonder who has the higher intellegence!

I live in Tucson and a greater roadrunner streaked by my window, and landed in my side yard. He was huge, and beautiful...........and quite haughty. What a thrill to see one upclose.
