Gray Flycatcher

Stampede Reservoir

I photographed this bird at the west end of Stampede Reservoir in the Sierras north of Tahoe, at quite a distance -- hence the blurry photo. Notable features include faint eyering, short primary extension, and a bill that's moderately long, with mostly yellow lower mandible with dark tip. I didn't hear it vocalize, or see it pump its tail -- the latter of which would have been diagnostic. Experienced empidonax observers all favored the identification as Gray Flycatcher, which is a plausible species where this bird was seen.

I would agree with Gray Flycatcher all the way.
