I first saw and photographed this bird as it perched on a partly submerged snag in the Rio Grande, apparetly nearer to the Mexican than to the U.S. side. I next photographed it flying upriver, the worst quality photo of the four I got. The bird then perched on the U.S. side, where I took this one -- I was close enough for a good photo, but the bird was obscured by branches and angled away from me, and as I moved get a better angle, it flew to another jurisdictionally ambiguous snag out in the river, where I took my fourth and last photo.
