Despite the promising gestures in the direction of nestbuilding, this Cattle Egret did not join the colony of nesting Snowy Egrets and Black-crowned Night-Herons around the ranger house at Palo Alto Baylands Park in late May and June of 2010. There was no evidence of a second bird of this species making a pair. Cattle Egrets have rarely nested in Santa Clara County.
