A first winter Harris's Sparrow was found by Peter LaTourrette at Shoreline Park on 12/3 -- I showed up at the crack of dawn on 12/4 along with some other birders. Didn't find the bird right away, but when Peter L returned and looked right where he had found it before, it appeared, munching on oats in the morning light. I was standing right next to him and snapped these pictures. Lots of local birders saw it that morning, but it wasn't seen again after that day, so this was quite a gift from the birding gods. First bird of the species seen in Santa Clara Co in 30 years!
