A Great Blue Heron flew over New Chicago Marsh in Alviso, California, home of many nesting American Avocets and Black-necked Stilts. A stilt flew out of the marsh toward the flying heron, and when the heron landed, startled the larger bird by attacking it. The heron then flew away with the stilt pursuing closely.
