Kakwa Wildland Area is at the extreme northern end of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta. I spent six days in Kakwa, from July 21 to 27, 2006 helping Provincial Parks do a biophysical inventory of the area. Almost all access was by helicopter, as there were very few roads in the area. During that time I took lots of photographs, particularly of the habitat, wildflowers and invertebrates. I hope this gallery gives a feel for the wild beauty of this largely unspoiled country, and I hope it remains this way forever.
